juking the stats

I was googling "gaming the system" for my paper and came across an article called, "Gaming the System, Juking the Stats." I went to m bfd (big fat dictionary) to look up juking. Juking the stats is bending them around so that they prove what you want them to. I think I've heard Jon Madden describe one player juking another. It's to deceive or outmaneuver, to feint or fake. (Etomology: Middle English jonwke, to bend in a supple way.) I think a lot of people juke the stats these days.

My bfd says that juke boxes and juke joints cone from Gullah-- probably through a West Afticsn word meaning bad, wicked and disorderly.
